Harry Potter Audio Books - CDTired of reading? Want something to listen to on long journeys? Try listening to the books being read to you! All the Harry Potter books are available as Audio Books. These come as CDs or Cassettes and are unabridged - meaning they are the complete stories, not some cut down version which would leave you wondering where some incident you remembered reading had disapparated to! A Choice Of Two ReadersYou may not know this, but you have a choice of reader for the audio books; Stephen Fry or Jim Dale. Both do an excellent job of course and both have won awards. Stephen is the English chap who reads the books you can buy from Amazon.co.uk (set your country settings on the left hand side to "UK" and the links below will be for Amazon.co.uk). Jim is
also British and is the reader on the American editions of the audiobooks; the one you can buy from Amazon.com or Amazon.ca (set your country settings on the left hand side to "USA" or "Canada" and the links below will be for Amazon.com or Amazon.ca respectively). So which do you choose? If you make a choice outside your "default" one then you'll have to pay international shipping costs - not too expensive if you choose surface mail but then you get to wait longer. I can tell you that Stephen Fry is the one that J.K.Rowling herself owns and so the one's her kids listen to, but then she is English and Stephen was the first reader to record her books. If you were able to catch the interview on "Living with Harry Potter" which the BBC broadcast then you'll know something of her feelings about this.
Equally Jim Dale is excellent, so there is no "wrong" choice here. To
help you make up your mind here are audio-clips from both the narrators.
So, listen to both to decide which you prefer and then you can order from
Amazon using the links below.
Of course now you'll need a nice long journey or something to give you
plenty of time to listen to them...
